The players might get a little wet at Prospect Meadows this weekend, but at least they won’t need their winter coats.
There’s a chance of showers for the 2020 Perfect Game Midwest Select Championships, but the unseasonably cold weather we’ve had this week will be replaced by comfortable temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s.
Forty-eight teams are headed to Prospect Meadows for the tournament, with 26 teams in the 16U/Sophomore division and 22 teams in the 17U/Underclass event.
The tournament will run from Friday through Sunday, with a 50 percent chance of rain for the first two days mixed with sunshine.
There will be teams from seven states in the tournament. Wisconsin leads the way with 13 teams, with 12 from Illinois and 11 from Iowa.
There also will be four teams apiece from Missouri and Nebraska, three teams from Minnesota and one from Colorado.
The tournament will begin with pool play, followed by the playoffs.
The championship games are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Players and fans will be required to follow all of the normal health precautions as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
