Busy autumn on horizon at Prospect Meadows
September 6, 2022 | Angela Jordan
It’s already been a record-breaking summer at Prospect Meadows with the large number of tournaments, visiting teams from all over the country, their fans and special events.
We’re not done yet.
This autumn we’re poised to break more records at the 4-year-old facility with over 300 teams from 14 states flocking here for tournaments, along with a record number of young people for the fall session of the Miracle League.
The old record for fall tournaments was 240 teams, but that number should climb by about 25 percent this year. All the tournaments this fall are being staged by Perfect Game, the world’s largest scouting service and a terrific partner of Prospect Meadows.
The Perfect Game tournaments will be held during a six-week period that ends Oct. 2.
The Kiwanis Miracle League, one of the most popular features at Prospect Meadows, has a record 102 kids who will be playing on the Miracle Field, which is especially equipped to provide a safe, fun environment for young people.
The Miracle League games are held on Saturdays. Special thanks to Byron Tabor and the Marion Metro Kiwanis folks for all their efforts in growing and developing this wonderful program.
Also scheduled this fall are the ICCAC baseball scrimmages on Sept. 15, ICCAC softball scrimmages on Sept. 30, the Miracle League banquet on Oct. 8, Mount Mercy Fall League games on Oct. 23, and the popular Mya Strong softball fundraising event on Oct. 15 and 16.
