Eighty teams left here last weekend after a major Perfect Game tournament. Now 81 new teams are taking their place.

That’s the story at Prospect Meadows this summer, making our eight-field complex one of the busiest baseball facilities in the entire midwest.

There are three different Perfect Game events here this weekend with the 16U Midwest Elite (32 teams), the 15U North Championship (32 teams) and the 16U Battle for the Midwest (18 teams).

The games began Thursday and will run through Sunday.

This has been an incredibly busy stretch at Prospect Meadows, with 298 teams competing here since the start of June and 200 more clubs expected through the end of July. All told, they’ll bring approximately 19,000 people from 20 states to our facility in these two months.

Things will slow down in August, but another 250 teams are expected to flock to Prospect Meadows in September. The cash registers will be ringing all around Linn County, with millions of dollars being spent locally.

The 81 teams in this weekend’s events hail from 10 states. Illinois tops the charts with 26 teams, with Minnesota close behind with 21 clubs. There are 13 teams from Missouri and 12 from Wisconsin. Iowa, Indiana, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Michigan also have teams in the tournaments.
