Fourth Annual Mya Strong Tournament Raises $17,000

The 4^th annual Mya Strong softball tournament was hosted by Prospect Meadows under windy and cold conditions on October 15 and 16, 2022. But, according to tournament organizers, it was a huge success.

Forty-four teams, ages 8 to 18, joined in to play softball while raising money for a good cause. This year the softball tournament raised just over $17,000 for the Mya Strong Foundation.  This will enable the foundation to support four scholarships, up to eight local oncology family monetary gifts, one cabin of 12 oncology children and one cabin of 12 oncology siblings at Children’s Cancer Connection Camp Heart Connection all expenses paid during the summer of 2023, as well as a donation to Dance Marathon in February 2023. 

Brooke Gilchrist, Mya’s mother, shared, “Mya had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute.  Thank you for supporting Mya and her mission and we can’t wait for next year’s tournament. Thank you to you all for your incredible kindness and generosity!“  The link for next year’s tournament, scheduled for August 2023, is already posted at Mya Strong Foundation.

The tournament honors Mya Gilchrist, an Alburnett High School student who has battled cancer since she was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was only 18 months old.
