Miracle League finishing another fun year

October 7, 2022 | Angela Jordan

Miracle-League-2021

It’s popular. It’s growing. And it’s almost time to put the bats and balls away for another season.

The Miracle League will finish its fall campaign at Prospect Meadows this Saturday morning, Oct. 8 with four games at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30. These are games that were rained out Sept. 17 and rescheduled.

It’s been another fun season for the 80 kids in the program. One of the highlights was having members of the Marion Fire Department and their new chief, Tom Fagan, attend games last weekend. The firemen brought along some of their department vehicles and helped in a variety of ways.

“The kids loved having the Marion Fire Department out last week!,” reported Claire Tupper, a spokesperson for the Kiwanis League, which sponsors the program.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have also made a big contribution to the Miracle League this year. All of the kids in the program have received two
season tickets for all 30 home games this season, with the seats located in the gold section along the glass along with accessible seating for less-
mobile kids.

Miracle League directors are looking for a few more volunteers for Saturday’s games. After that, it will be “Wait Until Next Year” when the league is
expected to keep growing and thriving.
