Cedar Rapids Prairie might lead the state in scoring this season if their torrid pace in the Bob Vrbicek Metro Tournament continues like this.

The Hawks bopped the Marion Wolves, 15-5, in six innings in the championship game of the tournament Tuesday night at Prospect Meadows.

Prairie defeated Xavier, 13-1, in the first round and edged Kennedy, 14-13, in the semifinals before climbing another rung on the scoring column in the finals.

Bronx Lewis sparked the Hawks by going 4-for-5 in the leadoff spot with two runs and two RBIs. Colton Forslund, Brandon Vlcko, Nate Keiper, Nolan Day and Caden Richards all had two RBIs. Forslund was 2-for-2 with three walks. Richards was 2-for-3.

Caden Stoffer allowed only two runs in four innings for the victory.

Marion struck twice with two runs in the top of the first, but Prairie responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and tacked on eight runs in the second inning for a commanding 12-2 lead.

The game ended in the bottom of the sixth due to the 10-run mercy rule on a sacrifice fly by Vlcko.

Freshman shortstop Myles Davis went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Marion.

Kennedy trimmed Linn-Mar for third place, 4-3. Xavier defeated Washington, 11-1, for fifth place. Jefferson played Mount Vernon for seventh place.
