Prospect Meadows holding youth baseball camps

June 6, 2022 | Angela Jordan

2022-Camps

School is out for the year and it’s time for summer camps.

At Prospect Meadows, that means four youth baseball camps during the month of June for players ages 7 through 13.

The three-day camps are scheduled for June 7-9, June 13-15, June 20-22 and June 27-29. All of the sessions run from 9 a.m. until noon and cost $135 per camp.

“We did it last year and it went really well,” said Steve James, the General Manager at Prospect Meadows. “We cover all aspects of the game. One day we might focus on hitting, another day we might work on defensive positions. Everyone can benefit.”

There will be a controlled scrimmage each day with coaches doing the pitching.

Local college baseball players will be members of the coaching staff, including Chase Moseley, a Kirkwood All-American who will play for the Iowa Hawkeyes next season.

Registration is easy. Go to ProspectMeadows.com, click on Schedules at the top of the home page, then click on Camps. Or follow the link to the Camp registration page. Players can get registered as late as the night before a camp session starts.

There’s room for 60 campers per session. Each player should bring his own glove, a bat if they have one, baseball pants, a cap and turf shoes or sneakers. No metal spikes will be allowed on the Field Turf.

Catchers should bring their own gear. Players of all skill levels are welcome, including beginners. The campers will be divided into sub-groups at times, based on ability and level
